Q. I've been on tours before where there were way too many people, we couldn't hear any stories and it took forever before we could get a drink. How many people do you take on your tour?
A. Our committment to our guests is that we guarantee small tours of about 15 people or less. By City ordinance, St. Augustine walking tours are allowed to take up to 25 guests. But we feel, as you stated, that too many would take away from your experience, so we limit our tours to only 15 guests per tour. It can be quite difficult to move a larger crowd in and out of some of the pubs, and whilst our company would certainly profit more from taking larger groups - we feel it's just not worth your disappointment!
Q. We've booked tours before that were cancelled at the last minute because of minimum reservations not being met. What is your policy on this?
A. We don't really have a 'minimum' . The St. Augustine Pub Crawl will operate with only 2 full ticket participants - so no worries here! Sometimes, these 'very small' tours end up as some of our (and our guests) favourites, because they are more like a private tour - it's ALL about you!
Q. What if it rains, will you cancel the tour?
A. Absolutely NOT! Our motto is 'There is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriately drressed people." Bring a brolly, if rain is in the forecast - but if the rain sneeks up on us at the last minute, we usually have an extra brolly or two to loan you. We would only cancel a scheduled tour in the event of severe weather - deadly lightening, gale winds, or subfreezing temperatures ( yes, we know it's Florida, but they don't call us NORTH Florida for nothing!). Otherwise, some of our best tours have occured amidst jumping over rain puddles!
Q. Is The St. Augustine Pub Crawl part of a big corporate chain?
A. No way! We are locally (and minority -female!) owned and operated. We don't drive home to another city at the end of the day, either. We live, work, play and educate our children here in the City of St. Augustine, because we love it here. We consider ourselves experts on local culture, because we live it every day! We offer our expertise before and after your tour with us, too - our guests often contact us for advice on restaurants, hotels, and attractions because we invite you to! We are happy to serve as your 'City Concierge' whenever we can, because it's our goal for you to experience the absolute best of our home, St. Augustine.
Q. We want to bring our adult son with us, but he isn't 21 - he is only 19. Can he come on the tour if he doesn't drink? What is the cost for a 'designated driver'?
A. Of course he can. Due to our early tour time, we can allow a limited number of guests under 21 yrs old, when they are part of a family group, etc. because most of our pubs are family oriented until 8:00pm anyway! The costs are the same, however, as we do offer many non-alcoholic beverages (coffee, sodas, and homemade rootbeer!) at several of the pubs - for which we are charged the same as beer/wine, so the tour cost is the same as for 'drinkers', as well as 'designated drivers' and non-drinkers. The scheduled tour is not compatible for anyone under 18 however, but we are happy to book you on a private tour (call us for the VERY affordable details!) if you have younger teens.
Q. Where does the tour finish, so that I can make dinner plans nearby after the tour?
A. We generally conclude the St. Augustine Pub Crawl near the Plaza de la Constitucion, with SO many great restaurants very close by. We advise our guests not to make any dinner reservations prior to 8:00-8:15pm however, because we find our guests like to linger at the last pub a little beyond the tour finish time to enjoy the company of their new friends! We are happy to escort you to any of the nearby restaurants, if you are unsure of their location, whenever possible. Just ask!
Q. My friend is turning 21 next weekend, and we want to reserve 8 spots on the tour to really celebrate the occasion- is there a discount?
A. We offer group rates on 10 or more people, but honestly, this is not a power drinking kind of tour - which is what most '21st Birthday' celebrations become. We would discourage you from attending The St. Augustine Pub Crawl in the best interests of all our guests, and not to disappoint your expectations. We believe that another choice of celebration would be more suited for you.
Q. I'm already in St. Augustine - where can I go to purchase a St. Augustine Pub Crawl ticket in person?
A. The St. Augustine Pub Crawl tickets can only be purchased at our ticket/information booth at 23 Orange St., or you may purchase our tickets at Ann O'Malley's Irish Pub at the same location. To maintain quality control of our limited availability, no other tour company can sell you our tickets. Of course, you may still phone us for reservations! If you have already purchased your tickets in advance, you may collect your tickets at the City Walks ticket booth, 23 Orange St.
